PSHCE
At Knightsbridge School PSHCE is taught as a subject from Year 1. We believe that open communication and teamwork are key factors in aiding a child’s academic and personal development. This subject encourages pupils to develop independently and as a group, whilst introducing them to serious issues in the local and wider community in order that they can make educated and informed decisions about their own lives, whilst reflecting on and developing their own values and attitudes. The course also tackles issues of personal safety in a variety of situations (including online) and bullying is explored through a range of media. It is taught by form tutors, or a specialist PSHCE teacher.
It is designed to help all pupils to cope with the challenges of personal daily life and to prepare them for their future in society.
It provides them with:
- the knowledge and skills to empower them to make thoughtful and informed decisions
- the basis to understand themselves and their own development
- the ability to relate to others in positive and constructive ways.
PSHCE is taught with five aims in mind:
- knowing me
- being with other people
- staying healthy
- living in the community
- protecting the environment
