The KS Code

At Knightsbridge School we all follow a simple a set of rules known as the KS Code:

I will remember how lucky I am and do my best at everything

I will try to do something creative everyday

I will remember to walk fast and not to run

I will try not to let others feel lonely

I will say nothing that will be hurtful to others

I will treat others as I would like to be treated

If I have any worries I will talk to an adult I trust

I will respect others and their possessions

I will remember that giving and sharing are the best feelings in the world

Religious Studies

‘I will treat others as I would like to be treated.’

This statement is a key part of the KS code and is a golden rule that links all of the main world faiths.

During their time at Knightsbridge School, pupils study Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism. Great care is taken to help the children discover their own respect for people of other faiths and to understand the rules and values that accompany each religion, thus leading to a greater understanding and tolerance of the multi-cultural society that we live in. It is not the task of the department to promote any specific faith.

Religious Studies lessons are taught throughout the school: art, drama and written tasks are all used to help the pupils access this colourful and exciting subject.

In Years 6 to 8, our children follow the Common Entrance Syllabus. The major Bible texts of both the Old and New Testaments are studied and linked to contemporary issues. The pupils also look at depth into the lives of religious people who have been motivated by their faith. Controversial issues such as abortion and euthanasia are also discussed and through careful, debate and open dialogue, the pupils learn to find their own personal opinions and viewpoints.
