How We Help Your Child Develop
As an independent private nursery school, we set our own curriculum to give your child the best possible start in their life. We utilise two major frameworks in our approach to nursery:
- Statutory Framework for EYFS (2024): Informs our plan for learning and teaching
- Birth to 5 Matters Guidance: Sets the standards for guidance, learning and care for children up to age 5
These inform our curriculum, which is designed around the seven areas of learning, starting with the three Prime Areas that underpin all future development:
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
As children grow in confidence, these areas support their progress in the four Specific Areas:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
We track our pupils using Early Learning Goals (ELGs) and make sure that your children are developing as they should be throughout their Early Years education. While play is our primary learning language, we ensure there is a broad range of opportunities. All learning is extended and wellbeing supported through daily access to outdoor play in the outdoor learning classroom, with planned visits to Forest School, as well as local parks.
Thanks to our dedicated specialist Early Years staff, we can offer even further academic development for your children, such as:
- Modern Foreign Languages: Weekly French and Spanish lessons to develop early language skills.
- The Arts: Dedicated sessions for Music, Drama, and Dance to build confidence and coordination.
- Sport: Physical development led by specialist sports teachers to hone motor skills and teamwork
