At Knightsbridge School, everyone learns side by side at every stage of their education – from their very first days in our Early Years setting through to GCSEs in the Senior School. We believe a co-educational environment reflects the real world our children are growing up into, and prepares them for it more naturally than a single-sex education ever could.
As one of a small number of fully co-educational independent schools in central London, we’ve built our whole approach – academic, pastoral and social – around the idea that children bring out the best in each other when they’re taught, encouraged and challenged together.
Why We Choose Co-Education
Co-education isn’t an add-on at Knightsbridge – it’s fundamental to how we teach. Mixed classrooms mean a wider range of perspectives in every discussion, a broader mix of role models for every child, and friendship groups that reflect the diversity of the world beyond school. Our teachers work to ensure every child – regardless of gender – has equal opportunity to lead, to speak up, to try something new, and to be celebrated for it.
We also know that kids can develop at different paces, particularly in the early years, and our small class sizes and attentive pastoral care mean no child gets lost in that mix. Teaching is tailored to the individual child, not a one-size-fits-all model – co-education gives us more, not less, room to do that well.

Co-education at Knightsbridge doesn’t come at the expense of academic rigour – if anything, it strengthens it. Everyone are set consistently high expectations, taught by the same expert staff, and given equal access to every subject, from STEM to the creative arts. We track outcomes for every pupil individually, so no group is left behind and no child’s potential goes unnoticed because of assumptions about what “boys are good at” or “girls prefer.”

From our Early Years setting right through to Senior School, our co-educational ethos shapes school life outside the classroom too — in how houses are structured, how leadership roles are shared, and how we celebrate achievement across sport, academics, and the arts equally for every pupil.
