We are incredibly proud of KS Alumni Ben Wang (2023) who has been awarded a scholarship to study at Harrow School, for his incredible ability in Fencing. Ben’s family has written the following reflection on his incredible achievement and his time at Knightsbridge School.
Ben joined Knightsbridge School in Year 4, in September 2019, after moving from China. At that time, he spoke very little English and initially found it challenging to settle in. Thanks to the patience and encouragement of his teachers and classmates, he gradually gained confidence and found his voice.
He built lasting friendships that made him feel welcome and soon embraced all aspects of school life – from playing on the KS football team to quietly dedicating himself in the classroom.
Outside of school, Ben remained devoted to fencing, a sport he began at age seven. His journey has had its challenges, including injuries and setbacks, but he has always persevered. His dedication earned him several medals at national competitions, including silver and bronze in U16 tournaments – an impressive accomplishment for a 14-year-old.
Ben left KS in July 2024 to join Harrow School, where he was awarded an Honorary Fencing Scholarship shortly after. His ability to settle in and succeed so quickly truly reflects the strong foundation KS gave him: confidence, resilience, and a drive to always do his best.
