Inspiring Women

Over the course of last week we had a number of inspiring women giving virtual talks to both our Seniors and Juniors. The visiting speaker for our Year 7 – 9’s this week was Financial Times science columnist, Anjana Ahuja. She spoke with the students about international women’s day and answered lots of science questions about covid, space and lots more.

Our Senior girls (Year 7 – 9) had a coding workshop with Christy Chan and Eimear O’Sullivan (both studying at Imperial University), as part of our Science Week and to celebrate Women’s International Day. The girls wrote text based coding and created memes!

Year 3 began their week with a live speaker called Carolyn. Carolyn recalled her experience of her expedition to the South Pole in 2008. The children were fascinated and loved asking lots of insightful questions. It inspired further love of their ‘Extreme Earth’ topic in Enquiry lessons.
